Reckless is the family's trusty golden lab that guards the home, possesess strong hunting skills and is a patient play mate to the children. She appears regularly but passes away in "The Journal" (s8-ep6).

Chance is the family's milking cow. She first appears in The Homecoming. She passes away in "The Graduation" (s2-ep22) and John buys a new milking cow Chance#2 for $20.

Bullet is Chance the cow's baby bull who is born in "The Calf" (s1-ep3). John sells the calf but the children have already grown attached to him and they do chores for the new owner to earn him back for the family.

Pete

Pete is a young raccoon that Elizabeth finds and asks her Daddy to help nurse him back to health. The family knows that he most likely won't make it but she takes it hard when her father is too busy to give her the attention she requires. "The Boy From The C.C.C." (s1-ep8)

Jim-Bob Jr.

Jim-Bob Jr. is a duckling that Jim-Bob helped to hatch by incubating the egg under his arm "The Townie" (s1-ep23).

Daisy the Mary Ellen's lamb who is born in "The Odyssey" (s2-ep2).

Old Blue is John-Boy's mule that Granny Ketchum gives to him when he needs to help an old school friend who has a fever and about to give birth in "The Odyssey" (s2-ep2).

 

Grover

Grover is Ben's pig that he enters into the Greased Pig competition at the fair. "The Prize" (s2-ep8).

Lancelot

Lancelot is a young motherless deer that Erin finds in the woods and cares for in "The Fawn" (s2-ep9).

  Fibber Fibber is an Alaskan Hound dog that Elizabeth, Jim-Bob and Luke (who is staying for a short time with the family) bring back home from a litter of puppies at Ike's. Initially the children name him Beauregard but settle on Fibber. Luke ends up taking Fibber with him when he moves to Richmond with his father. "The Ghost Story" (s2-ep21)

Porthos

Porthos is a the school Guinea Pig that Jim-Bob is in charge of. When the animal dies in his care Jim-Bob runs away because no one is listening to his problem. "The Runaway" (s3-ep4)

Myrtle is a goat that Maude Gormley gives to Elizabeth but it takes a while for Myrtle to learn that her new home is at the Walton's. "The Wing-Walker" (s4-ep7)

Calico

Calico is Elizabeth's cat that gives birth to 3 kittens but dies during the process. "The Loss" (s4-ep10)

Rover is Jim-Bob's noisy peacock who first appears in "The Baptism" (s5-ep4).

Ruby is a peahen and mate to Rover the peacock who appears in. "The Volunteer" (s6-ep6)

Dynamite is a calf that Chance#2 gives birth to in "The Battle of Drucilla's Pond" (s6-ep9).

Gingerbread is Myrtle the goat's baby. "The Flight" (s6-ep10)

Judy is a pony that the Baldwin sisters give to Elizabeth after she breaks her legs in "The Ordeal" (s6-ep19).

Jay-Bez

Jay-Bez is a pig that Clarence gives to Elizabeth for her 4-H project in "Grandma Comes Home" (s6-ep22).

Chirpee is a canary that Grandma keeps after her husband Zeb has passed away. "The Portrait" (s7-ep6)

Nick is Jeffrey's dog that he names after Saint Nicholas following the death of Reckless. "The Spirit" (s8-ep12)

Harold is a cat that Jeffrey finds but Harold gives birth to kittens "Apollo" and Aphrodite". After this discovery Jeffrey continues to call his cat Harold. "The Fastidious Wife" (s8-ep13)

Molly is Elizabeth's horse that her father buys for her. Molly breaks her leg and has to be put down but not before she has given birth to a colt in "The Outrage" (s9-ep1)
