Aimee Godsey

Aimee Louise Godsey is Ike and Corabeth's adopted daughter. When the Godsey's decided to adopt they were planning to bring home a baby but decided on 10 year old Aimee instead. "The Motorcycle Race" (s5-ep9) Although Aimee had a hard time accepting her parents love, Corabeth went above and beyond in an attempt to fulfill her every need. She builds her closest friendship with Elizabeth.


Rachel Longaker returned to play Aimee Godsey in A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion. DeAnna Robbins played Aimee Godsey in the first 3 Walton Movie Specials.

Miss Mamie Baldwin thinks of herself as the "smarter" of the two Baldwin sisters and for all practical purposes is the "brains" of the duo. The sisters are spinsters and fill their time honoring their father's memory by making Judge Baldwin's "recipe" which although is pure whiskey, they believe it to be for medicinal purposes.

Miss Emily Baldwin is the other Baldwin sister who occupies her time making the "recipe". She has her head in the clouds a bit and constantly fanticizes about her one brief romantic encounter with Ashley Longworth. She loves to have fun and is always willing to entertain guests.

Verdie Grant

Verdie Grant lives down the road from the Waltons. When we first meet her she does not know how to read. "The Scholar" (s1-ep21) She secretly watches as John-Boy helps Elizabeth with her school work. John-Boy figures out her issue and offers to help her to learn. She fears what people will think when the truth comes out but when she receives an Invitation to her daughter graduation ceremony that she can't read she realizes that she needs John-Boy's help. In the "The Roots" (s2-ep5) she meets Harley Foster and his son Jody. They eventually marry and later the two of them adopt Josh, a runaway orphan.


Lynn Hamilton was a regular on Sanford and Son and also starred in Roots: The Next Generation.

Harley Foster arrives on Walton's Mountain looking for work. "The Roots" (s2-ep5) He and his son Jody settles down and start a new family with local, Verdie Grant. While helping John at his lumber mill it is revealed that Harley is a wanted man who had escaped prison. It is revealed that he was unjustly incarcerated after killing a man in self-defence. John Walton receives a pardon for Harley from President Roosevelt.

Jody Foster is Harley Foster's son. When they arrive on Walton's Mountain Jody wants to stay and settle down instead of living on the road. He steals money from Ike's store and hides it in his father's clothing thinking that if he gets in trouble it will keep him from moving away. Later in "The Festival" (s6-ep16) he enlists in the Navy. In "The Hot-Rod" (s9-ep11) he helps Jim-Bob open up a garage next to Ike's store.

Josh Foster

Josh Foster first appears in "The Stray" (s6-ep2) hiding in The Waltons hayloft. He had walked to Viginia from North Carolina after his Grandmother had died. Even though he takes a strong liking to John the family feels that they have to take him to the orphanage. Eventually though Verdie and Harley Foster decide to adopt Josh.

Yancy Tucker

Yancy Tucker appeared in 19 episodes from season 1 to 7. He is quite eccentric character. In "The Chicken Thief" (s2-ep6) and a nod th the character Charlie Snead in The Homecoming, Yancy steals from the haves and gives to the have-nots. He has an affinity for animals and he shares an open door policy with them in his home. He tries to sell homebrewed alcohol as gasoline alternative during the war with Jim-Bob. He gets his baber's licence through a mail order course.


Robert Donner (1931–2006) appeared in Earl Hamner's other series Falcon Crest. He is also remembered for playing the character of Exidor in Mork & Mindy.

Fanny Tatum is the local phone operator. Erin gets a job working for Fanny in "The Vigil" (s5ep2). Fanny appears once in Season 1 and 5 times during Season 5 & 6.

Flossie Brimmer

Flossie Brimmer appeared in 27 episodes. She ran a boarding house . Her cousin Willie Brimmer came to visit when tensions were escalating in Germany prior to WWII. She recieved a fitting tribute upon her death of the actress who played her in "The Empty Nest" (s7-ep1).


Nora Marlowe (1915–1977) appeared in the first 6 seasons of The Waltons until her untimely death on New Year's Eve 1977. Her character was honored in the same episode as Grandpa Walton when both actors passed away during the hiatus between Season 6 and 7.

Vernon Rutley
George Tobias (1901–1980) played Vernon in Season 1.

Vernon Rutley is a local junk man who makes his living buying and selling 2nd hand items. He travels around the community with his truck filled with treasures of junk. Mary Ellen develops a close business relationship with him as it provides her with a way to make some money and also to do some shopping of her own.

Horace Brimley

"The Journey" (s2-ep1) She asks John-Boy if he can fix her car so that she can go see the beach one last time before she dies. Granny Ketchum is an old widowed black woman living in a small farm on Walton' Mountain. "The Odyssey" (s2-ep2) John-Boy helps to get her mule Old Blue out of her cabbage patch and later he seeks her help when a school friend needs medical attention. Granny lets John-Boy borrow her mule in his haste to get back to the sick and pregnant girl. Granny dies that night during a storm but has left the mule in John-Boy's care.


Frances E. Williams (1905–1995) was very active in theater and she helped found the first Equity theater in Los Angeles and served on the board of Actors' Equity for 20 years. She was also the founder of the city's first black theater company, the Negro Arts Theater in the late 1940's.

Hyder Rudge lives a very private life with his wife Martha. "The Car" (s2-ep24) They had lost their 20 year old son who had died at sea. John-Boy is looking to buy a car to use for University and he works at the Rudge's property for weeks to earn enough to buy the car. When the time comes to take the car home Hyder choose to not part with it as it reminds him of his lost son.

Easy Jackson made his first of 5 appearances in "The Caretakers" (s3-ep18). As his name implies Easy doesn't like to work too hard and his careless, easy going attitude causes a lot of mishaps. In his final appearance in "The Last Straw" (s8-ep19) he backs the Waltons truck in tht mill causing Jim-Bob to break his arm.
